Skyacres

App to train workers in controlled environment

Overview

SkyAcres is building a mobile-first app to train workers in Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA) like vertical farms and greenhouses using sensor-driven tasks, step-by-step checklists, and short training videos. My role was to design the core user experience for trainees using this app in real-world settings.

Target Users

  • New trainees working inside a greenhouse or vertical farm

  • Typically managing their own tasks on a mobile device

  • May be working with gloves, under bright lights, in areas with poor Wi-Fi

UX Considerations followed

  • Used High Contrast Colors for visibility under greenhouse lights

  • Big Tap Targets buttons easy to use with gloves

  • Used Text-to-Speech Notes for easier input

  • Urgent Tasks in Red and always on top clear visual language

  • App can run if no network.
